Darlington refurbishment project

Once complete, this project will enable production of clean, safe, low-cost, and emission-free electricity from Darlington for 30 more years.

  Central Ontario is home to 20 of our hydroelectric facilities, some of which, like our Sills Island Generating Station, have been part of their community for more than one hundred years.
Eastern Ontario
- Eastern Ontario
  Eastern Ontario is host to one gas-fired generating station and 15 of our hydroelectric generating stations on the St. Lawrence, Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers.
Northeastern Ontario
- Northeastern Ontario
  Northeastern Ontario contains 14 of our hydroelectric stations, including several we built or redeveloped through key partnerships with local Indigenous communities.
Northwestern Ontario
- Northwestern Ontario
  Northwestern Ontario hosts 11 of our hydroelectric stations as well as a former coal generating station that we converted to use biomass as fuel.

  The golden horseshoe of Southern Ontario is home to key operations including our Darlington and Pickering nuclear stations in Clarington and Pickering.

OPG opens doors for 2023 Community Power Expo

Event to be held Sept. 16 in Clarington

CLARINGTON, ON – Have you ever wondered how electricity is made? Do you want a glimpse into what Ontario’s electric future looks like? Join OPG for the 2023 Community Power Expo.

OPG will host the free family event Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Darlington Energy Complex, 1855 Energy Drive, Clarington.

From nuclear and hydro power to energy storage and electric mobility, the Community Power Expo is an opportunity for the community to participate in an immersive experience and see how OPG is helping electrify life in one generation.

Quick facts

As part of the event, OPG is collecting non-perishable food items for community members in need, for distribution by Feed the Need in Durham.
Visitors to the Community Power Expo can participate in interactive activities and buy a bite to eat at food trucks that will be on site that day.
