Ontario Power Generation's (OPG) Power for Change Project offers different grant, awards, and scholarship programs to give back to the communities which give so much to us. Learn more about our available funding programs.

Register with Benevity

It's important to us that the administration of our program is as easy and seamless as possible so you can focus on what you do best - making a difference. Please take a moment to ensure that your organization is registered on Benevity and your banking details are included, to receive Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) on Benevity.

Application windows

Please refer to the table below for application windows and payment timing. Requests will be reviewed, evaluated and decisions made at the end of each application window. Applications close November 15 each year.

Province-wide Empowerment Grant Program

STATUS: Open - Please note our application windows and timelines above.

Applications close Nov. 15, 2025

  • One-time or multi-year donations and sponsorships that provide province-wide benefit in Ontario
  • They must, however, support the areas and people where we operate
  • Grants generally range from $10k to $100k+
  • Grants are open year-round, and applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis

Regional Empowerment Grant Program

STATUS: Open - Please note our application windows and timelines above.

Applications close Nov. 15, 2025

  • One-time or multi-year donations and sponsorships that support grassroot initiatives in one of our host communities
  • Grants generally range from $2k up to $25k
  • Grants are open year-round and applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis

Regional Biodiversity Grant Program

STATUS: Closed

  • Multi-year habitat conservation grants that support the environmental and ecological health of Ontario with a focus on our host communities
  • This program runs on a three-year funding cycle
  • Application is now CLOSED and will re-open in December 2026

School Awards & Scholarships

STATUS: Invite only

  • High School Awards
    • Yearly awards supporting exceptional high school graduates in our host communities 
    • Awards valued at $500 each
  • Post Secondary Scholarships
    • Post-secondary scholarship program supporting key business talent areas (e.g. skilled trades, engineering, technology)
    • Awarded to select post-secondary institutions, including universities, colleges, skilled trades, and technology institutions. 
    • Scholarship value varies by program and school.
