Ontario Power Generation's (OPG) Power for Change Project was designed to serve our communities across the province. Learn more about each of our four funding pillars, our funding lenses, and see how your organization may align and qualify for one of our grant programs.
Our four funding pillars
Protecting Ontario's nature
Our areas of focus:
- Supporting initiatives focused on protecting, restoring, and enhancing Ontario’s biodiversity.
- Carbon reduction and removal initiatives, including but not limited to tree, wetland, and grassland planting and restoration, as well as education programs that promote climate resiliency.
Advancing Reconciliation
Our areas of focus:
- Enhance social well-being (includes language and cultural initiatives and celebrations) and promotes intergenerational knowledge transfer.
- Advance education to employment pathways.
- Collaborate and support Indigenous-led programs that protect the environment and support Indigenous environmental priorities.
Supporting strong communities
Our areas of focus:
- Supporting the foundation of strong and resilient communities focusing on food, shelter, and mental wellness.
- Building community pride and connection through inclusive local events, celebrations, and programming.
- Supporting community safety, including local water safety initiatives.
Empowering the next generation
Our areas of focus:
- Support education programs, initiatives, and events that address OPG skill and resource gaps (STEM and Skilled Trades) that include wrap-around supports such as mental health support, work clothes, or transportation.
- Mentorship, internship, tutoring, after-school programs.
- Scholarships and awards.
- Energy literacy programming, education and events to support the energy sector’s role in economic growth and building a clean energy future.
- Supporting the energy sector’s future workforce development through re-skilling and training to address the impacts of a changing economy.

Beyond our funding pillars, we prioritize applications that support one or more of the below lenses.
Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion
The funding lens of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion ensures that our charitable giving prioritizes applications that foster fair representation, embrace varied perspectives, and actively promotes opportunities for all individuals, regardless of background or identity.
Indigenous Reconciliation
The Indigenous Reconciliation funding lens prioritizes the inclusion of Indigenous voices, culturally relevant approaches, and traditional knowledge in program and event development where appropriate.
Public safety
The Public Safety lens emphasizes the allocation of funding and support for initiatives aimed at preventing water-related accidents and promoting water safety education and awareness.
