As part of our commitment to keep you informed, this report tracks performance at Ontario Power Generation’s (OPG) Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in the areas of safety, operational and environmental performance, and significant accomplishments during the first quarter of 2026.

Electricity production

The electrical energy generated, minus station needs

OPG’s nuclear electricity generation for Q1 of 2026 totaled 10.1 terawatt hours (TWh).

In Q1 2026, Darlington Nuclear produced 6.0 TWh of electricity, which was 13.2 per cent of the electricity produced in Ontario. Darlington Unit 4 was returned to service following its refurbishment outage in Q1 2026.

Reliability

Unit capability factor

By the end of Q1 2026, Darlington’s Unit Capability Factor (UCF) this year to date is comparable (98.46) to Q1 2025 (98.52).

Environment

Spills to the environment

During Q1 2026, there were two spills to the environment at Darlington Nuclear reportable to a regulatory authority.

Safety

Total Recordable Injury Frequency

Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF) measures the number of injuries involving OPG employees that result in a fatality, lost time, requiring restricted work and requiring medical treatment per 200,000 hours. By the end of Q1 2026, the 12-month rolling average TRIF was 0.08 injuries per 200,000 hours worked.

About OPG’s Nuclear Generating Stations

OPG owns and operates the Pickering and Darlington Nuclear Generating Stations. The two stations have a combined generating capacity of about 5,576 megawatts. Accounting for 22.1% of the electricity produced in Ontario in Q1, OPG’s nuclear units generated 10.1 TWh.
