Trespassers on Lake Gibson can be prosecuted
Public access to Lake Gibson Reservoir including Lake Moodie, Marlatts Pond and Beaverdams Creek Pond is prohibited.
Trespassers face prosecution and fines up to $10,000.
Winter recreation isn’t worth your life. OPG prohibits access by the public to Lake Gibson, Lake Moodie, Marlatt’s Pond, and Beaverdams Pond.
They aren’t your average lakes and ponds, they are a reservoir to supply water for the nearby DeCew Generating Stations.
Due to hydro generation, water levels and flows can change at any time, making ice conditions – thickness and stability – unpredictable and very dangerous.
Trespassing is incredibly reckless and endangers your life and those of first responders. Anyone accessing the waterbodies can be charged under Ontario’s Trespass to Property Act with fines up to $10,000.
Please obey all signs, fences, buoys, booms and barriers that have been put in place for your protection.
