Exploring BiodiversityThursday, March 19, 20269 a.m. to 1 p.m. REGISTER NOW | Join the River Institute at the OPG Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre for a fun event to learn about local biodiversity. River Institute Educators will provide guided nature walks outside where guests can identify birds and look for animal tracks. Binoculars and field guides are available for participants. Inside the centre there will be the opportunity to learn how to identify different animals from bones. Participants can also use microscopes to try and identify aquatic invertebrates to learn about their diversity. Recommended for all ages. |
Wampum Belt Teachings and Loom Beading WorkshopFriday, March 20, 202612:30 to 3:30 p.m. REGISTER NOW | Back by popular demand! Join the Native North American Travelling College Cultural Educators who will be presenting a special indigenous workshop about the history, significance and different types of Wampum Belts. Participants will have the opportunity to pick a design, or make their own design, and create a personal beaded bracelet on a loom as a keepsake. This cultural event will help you learn more about Haudenosaunee culture, protocol and art. Recommended ages 10 and up. Registration required. |
