Find out how OPG is powering the electric future at the Canadian International AutoShow

Whether your eyes are set on a new electric vehicle (EV), or you’re excited to see what the future of electrified mobility could look like, it’ll be OPG’s clean electricity powering these wheels on Ontario’s roads.

As a sponsor of this year’s Canadian International AutoShow, which is marking its 50th year, OPG will be on the show floor at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to showcase the important role its clean power will play in our electrified future.

Located on the 300 Level of the convention centre in the “Electric City”, showgoers can visit OPG’s “Life Electrified” booth to ask questions, get more information on OPG’s operations, and try their hand at a remote-control racing game.

“As we look to electrify life in one generation, OPG’s diverse, reliable, and low-cost clean power will be key to supporting the energy transition in transportation, as well as other important facets of everyday life,” said Adam McClare, Director of Brand Management at OPG.

To support future electrification, OPG is continuing to invest in its diverse fleet of clean generation and in new technologies, like small modular reactors, green hydrogen, and energy storage, as well as exploring new hydroelectric development. The company is also directly supporting electrification through its PowerOn Energy Solutions subsidiary, which is helping to enable transit and fleet electrification, and its Ivy Charging Network partnership with Hydro One, which is building one of Ontario’s largest, most-connected electric vehicle (EV) charging networks.

At the AutoShow’s media day event on Feb. 16, Ivy announced the launch of Ivy Home, Ontario's first complete EV charging solution for residences.

Running from Feb. 17 to the 26th, the Canadian International AutoShow features more than 650,000 square feet of exhibits, displays, and attractions, including Canada’s largest indoor EV test drive track. More than 200,000 visitors are expected at the largest automotive expo in Canada, which is making its return after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.

With the theme of “Mobility Reimagined,” this year’s show will be centred on the ongoing electrification of the automotive industry, as well as feature the latest innovations and trends.

Several highly anticipated, all-electric vehicles will be making their Canadian debuts at the show, including Hyundai’s RN22e, a fully electric high-performance car developed by the company’s N brand division, and Project Arrow, the first original, full-build, zero-emission Canadian concept car.
