Who’s electrifying life in Ontario at OPG?
From engineers, to skilled trades, to business professionals, and students, OPG relies on the skills and talents of many diverse people to succeed.
Our engineers are an integral part of our business and we consistently hire engineers from a variety of disciplines across our worksites. Most commonly, we look for engineers who have completed their studies in mechanical, electrical, computer or civil engineering.
Our operations also depend heavily on skilled tradespeople, with about 50% of our current workforce in the skilled trades. In addition to partnering with the Power Workers’ Union in all our locations, OPG partners with the Building Trades Unions to hire skilled trades, including electricians, boilermakers, and millwrights. We also offer training program opportunities across OPG in both our nuclear stations for nuclear operators in training, and hydroelectric operations for hydroelectric operating technician trainees.
Beyond engineers and trades, a wide variety of professionals support our business in many ways across the province. These important roles include positions in project management, supply chain and procurement, human resources, health and safety, finance, and law.
Finally, OPG actively provides opportunities for the next generation by recruiting students from universities and colleges for paid-work terms directly related to their field of study.
