Tuesdays on the Trail wraps up in Durham Region on a high note

With the summer wrapping up, OPG finished another successful season of its Tuesdays on the Trail (TOTT) program.

For the last two decades, the fun, free and educational program for children aged six to 12 ran on select Tuesdays throughout July and August in Alex Robertson Park in Pickering and along the Darlington Waterfront Trail in Courtice.

After two years of pivoting from in-person TOTT programs to curbside pickups due to pandemic restrictions, OPG was excited to return to in-person sessions this summer at Darlington and Pickering.

“We want to thank all of our student volunteers and community partners who made this summer’s Tuesdays on the Trail a success,” said Lindsay Hamilton, Senior Manager of Corporate Relations and Projects at OPG.

This year, kids learned about Indigenous traditions, explored biodiversity through scavenger hunts, built science experiments, unleashed their creativity with art, and greeted feathered friends from the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA).

In addition to the GRCA, community partners included Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Driftwood Theatre, Pickering Public Library, Clarington Public Library and members of OPG’s Indigenous Relations team.

Overall, the sunny weather helped keep spirits high through each program.
