Power Workers' Union fails to ratify final offer
Ontario Power Generation activates contingency plans.

Toronto – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) announced today that its Power Workers’ Union (PWU) did not ratify the final offer presented to its members, leaving members in a strike position. The previous collective agreement with the PWU expired on March 31, 2018.

OPG is disappointed that its fair and reasonable offer was not ratified by PWU members. The offer provided PWU members with reasonable working conditions and benefits while recognizing the fiscal realities of the company and the Province of Ontario.

The parties are discussing next steps. More details will be provided as they are available.

OPG has very detailed contingency plans in place and is activating them immediately.

OPG is committed to ensuring the safety of Ontarians is protected at all times.

OPG generates safe, clean, reliable, low-cost power for Ontario. More than 99 per cent of this power is free of smog and carbon emissions. OPG’s power is priced an average of 40 per cent lower than other generators, which helps moderate customer bills.
