PowerNews Spring 2021

Through the ongoing pandemic and the winter cold, OPG's dedicated workers forged ahead on several key projects while continuing to provide reliable, essential power.

In the Spring issue of PowerNews, we take a look at some of the projects that are helping to secure Ontario’s clean energy future and support its economy – from the Darlington Refurbishment to the Little Long Dam Safety project.

OPG is also taking steps to further expand its clean nuclear generation through the Darlington New Nuclear Project, which is undergoing regulatory approvals. If approved, a new Small Modular Reactor built at this site could help electrify the province’s economy while helping OPG meet the goals set out in its new Climate Change Plan.

Also this spring, OPG’s water management staff across the province are busy preparing for the coming freshet. In this issue, learn more about how snow surveys and the management of frazil ice are helping the company’s hydro operations get ready.

In the employee spotlight, catch up with Nadia Temacini, an Associate Market Coordinator who is charting a varied career at OPG, and John Paul Kohoko, an electrician passionate about staying connected to his Indigenous roots.
