Darlington refurbishment project

Once complete, this project will enable production of clean, safe, low-cost, and emission-free electricity from Darlington for 30 more years.

  Central Ontario is home to 20 of our hydroelectric facilities, some of which, like our Sills Island Generating Station, have been part of their community for more than one hundred years.
Eastern Ontario
- Eastern Ontario
  Eastern Ontario is host to one gas-fired generating station and 15 of our hydroelectric generating stations on the St. Lawrence, Ottawa and Madawaska Rivers.
Northeastern Ontario
- Northeastern Ontario
  Northeastern Ontario contains 14 of our hydroelectric stations, including several we built or redeveloped through key partnerships with local Indigenous communities.
Northwestern Ontario

  Northwestern Ontario hosts 11 of our hydroelectric stations as well as a former coal generating station that we converted to use biomass as fuel.

  The golden horseshoe of Southern Ontario is home to key operations including our Darlington and Pickering nuclear stations in Clarington and Pickering.

Leading with oversight

Our Board has committees that focus oversight on areas that are important to Ontario Power Generation’s (OPG's) future and success, each aligning with our strong corporate governance.

Audit and Risk Committee

This committee is responsible for the integrity, quality, and transparency of OPG’s financial information, financial reporting process, internal controls, and OPG’s principles, policies, and procedures established by management.

Human Resources & Governance Committee

This committee oversees HR and compensation policies, CEO objectives and compensation, leadership talent reviews, succession planning, labour negotiations, and the Board’s corporate governance programs, aligning them with governance best practices.

Generation Oversight Committee

This committee oversees the safe, secure, and efficient operations of our generating facilities. They ensure that our generating facilities comply with nuclear, health and safety, and environmental laws and regulations.

This committee assists the Board of Directors in its responsibility for oversight of matters relating to the planning and execution of major projects including the Darlington Refurbishment project.
