Sustainable Development

At OPG, we strive to meet our obligation to produce power in a manner that reflects our commitment to the environmental dimension of sustainable development.
OPG's commitment to the principles of sustainable development dates from our inception as a company in 1999. We are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment; operating our facilities safely, reliably and responsibly and being an engaged and productive member of our host communities.

Eight of OPG's sites are certified Wildlife Habitats including the Nanticoke Generating Station (featured on the right).
We must comply with literally hundreds of
environmental laws, regulations, by-laws and
requirements contained in operating permits and
Certificates of Approval. We consider regulatory
compliance to be a minimum, non-negotiable
standard for progress towards sustainable
development by our company, and we have
established voluntary internal environmental targets
to help ensure that our overall performance continues
to improve beyond compliance.
Every year OPG publishes a Sustainable Development report to enable stakeholders to review our progress. The reports are all available for download by clicking here.
