OPG Evergreen™ Energy

OPG's green power portfolio consists of 32 EcoLogo-certified facilities (29 small hydrolectric, and three wind-powered stations) with a combined capacity of 133 megawatts.
Green power is electricity produced from renewable sources such as wind, low-impact hydroelectric, biomass, and solar.
OPG has consolidated its renewable energy portfolio under OPG-Evergreen™ Energy. This unit is responsible for operating the company's green power portfolio.
All OPG Evergreen™ Energy Green Power products are supplied by facilities that have been EcoLogoM-certified or equivalent under the federal government's Environmental Choice Program.
OPG's Green Power Assets
The nine megawatt facility Huron Wind project, Ontario's first wind farm, was commissioned in December, 2002. The project, a joint partnership with a consortium made up of Cameco Corporation, TransCanada Pipelines and BPC Generation Infrastructure Trust, is adjacent to the Bruce Power Visitors' Centre located near Kincardine in Bruce County. Visit www.huronwind.com for more details.
OPG's Pickering Nuclear site is home to the Pickering Wind Generating Station, one of North America's largest wind turbines, a 1.8 megawatt, 117-metre high wind machine commissioned in 2001 and designed to produce enough power to satisfy about 600 average households a year. This electricity is also emission-free.
