OPG is committed to achieving excellent safety performance as we strive for continuous improvement with an ultimate goal of zero injuries. A primary objective is to achieve excellence in employee, contractor, and public safety through a corporate commitment to safety which includes the implementation of targeted risk mitigation programs and formal safety management systems across the company.
OPG is also deeply committed to the safety of its young workers. We make absolutely sure that our young workers have the skills and training they need to perform their jobs safely.

In 2005, OPG was the first and only recipient of the Electrical and Utilities Safety Association (E&USA) Gold Award in recognition of effective safety management systems and a strong safety culture across the company.
A commitment to public safety is an important part of OPG's safety program. In an effort to improve awareness of the potential dangers surrounding dams, hydroelectric stations and surrounding waterways, our staff work closely with partners in site communities. Radio advertisements, newspapers and magazine describe the need to stay clear of hydroelectric sites.
