Day 1 Pickering B Relicencing Hearing

Day 1 of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) hearings on the subject of the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) application for relicence of the Pickering B Generating Station was held Feb. 20 in Ottawa, Ontario.

On June 30, 2008, the current five-year operating licence for the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Pickering B Nuclear Generating Station will expire.

The station is operated under regulation of the CNSC, which is responsible under the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA) for regulating all nuclear facilities and nuclear-related activities in Canada.

OPG has requested a five-year licence be granted from the period of July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2013.
