HISTORICAL NOTE:

Ever since the gold rush of 1925 - 1926, when the mineral wealth of the Patricia district was brought into sharp focus, electric power has paced the development of mining in northern Ontario. The close teamwork between Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario and the mining industry opened up the vast resources of the area, spurred the growth of thriving towns and mining communities and made a significant contribution to the Provincial economy.
