Little Jackfish Project

Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPG) is proposing to develop approximately 100 megawatts of renewable hydroelectric power through the construction of two generating stations on the Little Jackfish River, which drains into Lake Nipigon (Proposed Undertaking). There is no existing hydroelectric development on the river. Each generating station will include a dam with a water intake and by-pass structures, a powerhouse and a tailrace channel. Associated facilities include access roads, borrow areas for construction materials and a large temporary construction camp. Transmission facilities to connect the Proposed Undertaking to the provincial grid will be required by a separate transmitter.
OPG is committed to consulting with the respective First Nations and Métis, government agencies, the public, and other interested stakeholders on the Proposed Undertaking. Input and comments will be considered during the environmental assessment process.
