An interesting feature of this station from the standpoint of engineering and operation as well as economics (at Hague's Reach at No. 9 Dam) was its automation with remote supervisory control from the Ranney Falls station. This was the first installation of this character to be made by the Commission, the first in Canada for hydraulic generation. At the time, it was the largest combined development under automatic control.
