ONTARIO POWER GENERATION'S PICKERING UNIT 1 OFF-LINE FOR MAINTENANCE AFTER 128 DAYS OF OPERATION
[Pickering]: Ontario Power Generation's Pickering Unit 1 was safely taken off-line on Thursday, May 25 as part of the station's planned maintenance program to help ensure its reliable operation during this summer's expected high power demands.
Pickering Unit 1 entered this short maintenance period after operating for 128 consecutive days. Inspections and maintenance on both conventional and nuclear systems will be undertaken during this outage.
Pickering Units 4, 5, 6 and 7 continue to operate at high power, delivering about 2,040 MW of electricity to the Ontario electricity grid. Unit 8 continues on its maintenance outage scheduled for completion later this spring.
