Ontario Power Generation continues to seek injunction in Hydro One
Labour Dispute
[Toronto:]Ontario Power Generation Monday sought a temporary injunction to limit picketing at its Nanticoke Generating Station by members of the Society of Energy Professionals who are striking against Hydro One. Picketing by the Society last Friday prevented key operating personnel from entering the station.
A decision on the injunction is expected to be released Tuesday.
The Society picketers striking against Hydro One moved on Monday to Lambton and Lennox generating stations. The pickets failed to block key personnel from entering the stations as OPG had established alternate ways of getting these personnel into both plants.
Hundreds of other OPG employees had to wait in line in their cars for up to six hours on one of the hottest days of the year. When it became obvious that they would not get through the picket line, OPG sent many of them home.
"OPG's employees are doing a great job in running all of the corporation's available generation again today," said OPG President and CEO Jim Hankinson.
