Six of Eight Units Offline at Nanticoke Generating Station

[Nanticoke]: Picketing by the Society of Energy Professionals continues to impact on Ontario Power Generation. The Society is picketing OPG operations in a secondary picket in its dispute with Hydro One, which is a separate corporation.

Ontario Power Generation has taken further steps to reduce operations at its Nanticoke Generating Station as a result of the labour dispute between the Society of Energy Professionals (the Society) and Hydro One.

In addition to the four units that are already shut down, the station is now reducing output by an additional two units. Each unit generates 500 megawatts.

OPG staff continues to operate the remaining two units.

All other available OPG generating resources across the province are being fully utilized to support Ontario's electricity demands.
