DGR Public Hearing

The Public Hearing for OPG’s proposed Deep Geologic Repository Project (DGR) for low and intermediate level nuclear waste concluded in the fall of 2014. The hearing was held on two separate occasions in the Municipality of Kincardine and in the Town of Saugeen Shores for 33 days over a two year period (2013 & 2014).

The hearing provided opportunities for participants to hear about the DGR Project and the results of the Environmental Impact Statement from the proponent OPG, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission as well as independent subject experts. Members of the public, First Nations and Métis communities also had the opportunity to provide their views about the DGR Project to the Joint Review Panel.
