I study at the University of Toronto, Scarborough College, with life science - biology, as my main discipline. From my academics, I have become a keen learner in the interactions between man, technology, and the environment on many levels.
Position at OPG:
As a Communications Assistant in the department of Public Affairs at Darlington Nuclear Information Centre, I have a wonderful opportunity to work with many departments ranging from Operations and Maintenance to Environment. My main responsibilities involve creating and maintaining ‘On Site,’ an intranet website that is updated and published on a weekly and daily basis. Besides the intranet, I also use other communication vehicles that help “get the message across” to all employees of the plant.
Typical day & duties:
In this position, internal communications range in depth from the latest engineering projects to daily energy market issues to the biodiversity initiatives and programs that are ongoing at and around the plant. External communications are equally important. Socially, interaction with the public and participating in the community are critical to the growth of a community. The contribution of one makes a difference.
What made you choose this position at OPG?
There is so much to explore. Some may consider this position as fast-paced, but there is never a dull moment. This is definitely not your mundane nine-to-five job.
What's the best part about working at OPG?
Reliability and accountability are both important aspects in my position, as with every position in the plant. I take on this responsibility along with many others proudly as an OPG employee. I appreciate being able to work alongside and learn from with such highly experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated employees everyday. At OPG, everyone works as a team.

Everyday, it has become an honest joy to work in such a positive atmosphere and a pleasure to be a part of such a unique team.
Life / interests / hobbies outside work:
Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, painting, and going on trips. I also enjoy meeting new people and being stimulated in new surroundings.
Future career goals:
My future career goals are to finish my science degree and to continue pursuing any opportunities that may arise. Life is pleasantly unpredictable.
