The Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) presents OPG with the Regional Outstanding Corporate Award at its Regional Annual Meeting, in recognition of OPG’s extraordinary ongoing financial support and commitment to the CDA.

Environmental Earth Angels Environmental Achievement Award
OPG’s Pickering Nuclear generating station receives the 2011 Environmental Achievement Award from the Environmental Earth Angels. The award recognizes Pickering’s “many years of outstanding biodiversity and education.”

Corporate Habitat of the Year Award
OPG’s Niagara Plant Group (NPG) wins the prestigious Corporate Habitat of the Year Award from the Wildlife Habitat Council. The award is presented to a facility which continues to demonstrate excellence in the areas of wildlife habitat enhancement and restoration. This is the WHC’s highest honour. NPG was chosen out of 185 sites across North America.

Catalyst Canada Award
The Catalyst Canada Honours Award recognizes Canadian corporate leaders’ commitment to the promotion of women in business. OPG Treasurer Colleen Sidford was one of three inaugural recipients of this award.

Infrastructure Health and Safety Association’s ZeroQuest Platinum Award
OPG received the ZeroQuest Platinum Award from the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association awarded at IHSA’s Annual General Meeting in Toronto. The award recognizes OPG’s efforts to sustain and continuously improve its safety performance, health and safety management systems and safety culture. This is the highest level of recognition a company can achieve in the ZeroQuest program.

Pickering Local Business Civic Award
OPG was awarded the Local Business Civic Award from Pickering Mayor Dave Ryan at a ceremony at the Pickering City Hall. OPG received the award for its wide range of community partnerships, programs and employee volunteerism. The award is given annually to organizations that make significant contributions to Pickering’s economy and community.

Nova Awards
OPG’s Northeast Plant Group was recognized by winning the “Business Contribution to the Community” award at the annual Nova Award ceremonies, held by the Timmins Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes OPG’s support of local community initiatives and organizations as well as the many volunteer hours contributed by its employees.

Electrical and Utility Safety Association (E&USA) presents OPG with its ZeroQuest Gold Award for maintaining a high level of safety performance for four consecutive years. OPG is the only company in the ZeroQuest program to achieve this milestone.

Lake Superior Bi-National Forum Award
The Thunder Bay Generating Station is recognized for ongoing initiatives to reduce toxins in Lake Superior and a voluntary program of continuous measuring of emissions. The Lake Superior BiNational Forum is a public advisory body funded by Environment Canada and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Wildlife Habitat Council’s (WHC) Corporate Habitat of the Year Award
OPG’s Darlington nuclear generating station is selected from 146 sites across North America to receive the Corporate Habitat of the Year Award from the WHC. The award recognizes continuous site improvement in wildlife habitat enhancement and restoration, and use of lands for teaching.

OPG receives international environmental recognition after being awarded the Wings over Wetlands Award, a joint recognition from the Wildlife Habitat Council and Ducks Unlimited. The award recognizes “exemplary corporate participation in wetland stewardship.”

The OEA names the Portlands Energy Centre (PEC), a partnership between OPG and TransCanada Energy, as “Energy Company of the Year.” The PEC was recognized for its “its vision and dedication to bringing a key 550 MW combined cycle natural gas generating station on line…on time and on budget."

The award was given in recognition of the many partnership activities between the environment organization and Darlington Nuclear, including Yellowfish Road, rain barrel distribution, education outreach, and enhancement efforts on the marsh itself.

Awarded to Pickering Nuclear by the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade for its community support and contribution to the local economy.
Clarington Board of Trade Business of the Year Award
Awarded to Darlington Nuclear generating station recognizing their "dedication not only to the community, but to their employees as well."
Municipality of Clarington's 2002 Corporate Citizen of the Year Award.
Awarded to Darlington Nuclear for its ongoing community commitment. OPG was cited for its role in "supporting many local educational, environmental and cultural initiatives in Clarington and the Region of Durham." This was the first time the award was given to a previous winner. OPG won the 2001 Corporate Citizenship of the Year Award as well.
Outstanding Stewardship of America's Rivers Award
Awarded to OPG for excellence in habitat enhancement, environmental restoration, recreational improvement, mitigation and fish passage. The award was specifically given for OPG's environmental contribution to the Madawaska River Hydroelectric Project on the Madawaska River, Ontario. This was the third consecutive time OPG has won this award.
