Net-Zero News December 2021

On the one-year anniversary of the release of OPG’s Climate Change Plan, Net-Zero News recaps the actions underway and the progress achieved toward reaching our ambitious goals: to become a net-zero carbon company by 2040 and to help the economies where we operate achieve net-zero by 2050.

These actions include advancing our plans to build a Small Modular Reactor at our Darlington site, the launch of a new subsidiary to help electrify municipal transit fleets, and our continuing work to develop clean hydrogen production.

This fall, OPG also launched its first-ever Reconciliation Action Plan, which will act as a road map to guide our partnerships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations. It will also help us be a strong climate change ally to Indigenous communities as we all strive to reach net-zero.

Also in this issue, we provide an update on the Darlington Refurbishment project, celebrate the 100th anniversary of our flagship Sir Adam Beck I hydro station, and spotlight several women who are breaking down gender barriers in the energy sector.

As we to strive to make our goals a reality and build a brighter future, Net-Zero News will continue to mark each milestone on our journey.
